Bowling Green Rubber & Gasket is proud to offer the best in material fabrication. The FLOW® Waterjet is a “Mach 3 Dynamic Waterjet” that can cut virtually any material on Earth. These machines along with our flash cutter, die press and skilled hand fabricators give our customer the advantage when it comes to custom fabrication.

How it Works

First, water used for cutting is softened and purified. Then the FLOW® intensifier shifts back and fourth to intake the water, which is again filtered by a 1 micron and a .45 micron filter. As the intensifier shifts it converts 3000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to 60,000 PSI water pressure that moves through high pressure tubing to the cutting head. The cutting head contains a valve that shuts the flow off or allows the water to be forced thru a jewel orifice to the material. Waterjet cutting isn’t actually cutting; it’s technically eroding.

Advantages to Waterjet Cutting

  • Ultra high accuracy/adherence to tight tolerances
  • Virtually any 2D shape can be fabricated
  • No heat affected zones, no post re-testing of spec material
  • Diversity: can cut any material other than tempered glass
  • Cuts up to 6″ thick materials
  • Rapid Prototyping
  • Repeatability due to savable programs/drawings
  • No re-tooling
  • Reduced material waste
  • Reduced taper due to dynamic cutting

Programming

All waterjet cut parts are computer programmed for precise accuracy and repeatability. We utilize three sophisticated drawing programs to design our customer’s products to their specific needs, or customers can supply their own drawings. Our designers can also program parts from dimensional data and samples. We are happy to assist in the design of prototypes or items that require some modification to properly perform. Let us help you duplicate, modify, redesign, and create the parts you need how you need them.
